Sandi Pierantozzi & Neal Patterson

Unlike most traditional potters who use the wheel, most of Sandi Pierantozzi's forms are hand-built from textured slabs of clay that she cuts and shapes using paper templates. She assembles the pieces into various functional forms, selecting glazes and placement that accentuate each piece.

Most of Neil Patterson's work begins on the potter's wheel. He creates shapes with unique textures, altering them by cutting and reassembling them into functional pottery forms or contemplative sculptures. Patterson accentuates his forms by juxtaposing monochromatic colors.

This husband and wife team share their studio, "Neighborhood Potters," in Philadelphia, PA, where they teach and give workshops. Sandi and Neil are also founders of the Fairmount Arts Council and organize events, classes, and workshops in their community.
