Detroit, MI

Frank James Fisher was born in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Central Michigan University with a BFA in graphic design in 1985. Fisher began his career as a painter and graphic designer, later launching his own company FCS Advertising in Detroit. Several years later Fisher 
resumed his ceramic interests, and studied with John Albert Murphy at Schoolcraft College, Michigan. In 2002 he built a ceramic studio at his home. Fisher writes about his process for Pottery Making Illustrated and Ceramics Monthly magazine. He teaches advanced ceramics at Schoolcraft College.
