Layered over a large aqua steel disk are several laser cut components made of wood and metal. Akram's stylization draws inspiration from traditional Islamic pattern-work. Solid oak, steel, powder coat, stainless steel hardware. Measures 60" x 7" x 58".

Asheer Akram was born in Oklahoma City, OK and grew up in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2007 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in sculpture. With support from the Lighton International Artist Exchange Program, he travelled to Pakistan and Armenia in 2011. Akram’s artistic endeavors highlight overlooked cultural aspects so that their significance is recognized and respected. His public art installations, culturally-informed artwork and projects bring artists, communities and regions together as creators. This was exemplified with the creation of the Pakistani Cargo Truck Initiative (PCTI), exhibited at The Nelson Atkins Museum of Fine Art in 2013, with support from the Francis Family Foundation, Richard J Stern Foundation and the Westhead Family Foundation. Since that time, PCTI has traveled to schools across the Midwest as an educational mobile art program. Akram’s work has been exhibited internationally and nationally and is included in several private and public collections.
